In Case You Missed It - Videos from RWA Nationals

Were you unable to make it to the RWA National Conference in New York this year? Did you get caught in a meeting or sleeping in after a fancy publisher party or running out to catch a Broadway show and you missed some parts? This year, whether you were there in the ballroom or not, RWA is giving us the opportunity to watch (or rewatch) the Keynote and Featured Speakers, as well as the RITA and Golden Heart Awards Ceremony!
Behold!
The first speaker was Keynote Barbara Freethy, who talked about the ups and downs in her long career (and the curse of the cartoon cover):

On Friday, Julia Quinn spoke (and her story about her mom made me grin):

Saturday morning was Nalini Singh (and I might have mentioned once or twice that I'm a total fangirl where this goddess is concerned) - and as I mentioned in my post-conference post, she spoke of protecting the joy (among other things):

And then it was time for the RITA and Golden Heart Awards Ceremony. I was delighted that we were able to stream this year and able to debut our new theme song (composed by Carl Wishneusky and underwritten by Stephanie Laurens). I was truly thrilled to be part of putting this awards ceremony together - along with my extraordinary committee (Linda Needham, Victoria Alexander, and Terri Reed), our brilliant MC Lisa Kleypas, and our goddess of an Office Liaison, Judy Scott, as well as the fantastic gentlemen and lady of our production company. If you loved it, I can't take the credit, because the awards shows are defined by the host and the speeches of the honorees (and the videos were a labor of love from one of our esteemed committee ladies), but it was fun to be a cog behind the scenes. So here it is, in case you missed it, this year's Golden Heart and RITA Awards Ceremony:

And, just in case you're interested, you can also view and purchase RWA2015 photos: https://brutus.smugmug.com/Corporate/RWA-2015-New-York (download free RWA2015 headshots here)
And purchase RWA2015 audio recordings: https://www.rwa.org/p/cm/ld/fid=1343
This way we can be there even if we weren't, and remember even the details we forgot. So let's celebrate romance together! :)

Tiger - Week One

It's been a good week, boys and girls!  Folks seem to be enjoying Tangling with the Tiger, but in case you haven't checked it out yet, here's another little teaser and a (Top Pick!) review that just popped into my inbox.  :)

Tangling with the Tiger - Out Now
“I don’t want you to get the wrong idea. I’m not anyone’s savior. I’m not going to heal you with love or anything like that. I don’t want a mate.”
“I’m too broken to ask for that,” he said softly. “But when I’m with you things are…” Again the words, why wouldn’t they work? “Peaceful. I just want some of that peace.”
She wet her lips, the sight tantalizing and distracting. “So you use me for peace and I use you for…um…” A blush stained her cheeks.
Sex. “Whatever you want.” He could have said it for her, but he found it entirely too adorable to see bold, brash Grace stammering for words.
“Right. So we just use one another and everyone’s happy?”
Happy. That was a word he hadn’t thought about in a while. His thoughts fractured, skittering after happy, chasing it, trying to remember what it felt like.
“Dominec?”
He focused on her face, on the tiny frown wrinkle between her brows as she studied him.
“Your eyes were doing that thing again.”
Grace. Happy. “Yes.”
Her frown deepened. “What?”
The words weren’t working. So he dismissed them. Her lips were close.
So he kissed them.

According to the lovely folks at Night Owl Reviews who gave us a Top Pick (!!!) Tangling with the Tiger is "awesome, fun, steamy, suspenseful, and exciting to read. I was caught up in the fascinating and truly original storyline, romance, action, and drama."

Odysseus, Orpheus, and the Quest for a New Car

My attempts to buy a car have now descended to the level of farce.  (Or Greek myth.  If someone told me the gods were messing with me, I would be relieved - at least then I would have an explanation.)

After a number of previous setbacks, I worked up my gumption, checked dealer inventories and set off on Saturday to test drive (and possibly buy!) a model/trim that is on my shortlist.

We arrive at the biggest car dealership I've ever seen, but alas we do not see the car.  Salesman says not to worry. He will locate it - every car on the mega-lot has GPS on their locator system.

Every car except that one.

We hop in another car with our salesman and drive it around the mega-lot, looking for the distinctive blue paint of the missing stick-shift model.  He realizes it may have been moved to an overflow lot off site and drives us over there.  Voila!  It exists!

And the keys are locked inside it.

Not to worry! Salesman leaves us in the overflow lot and runs back to the main lot to get the spare key.  He returns triumphant!

And the battery is dead.

Salesman runs back.  Gets a jumper box.  The car starts!

And the alarm goes off.

Only way to turn off the alarm is to turn off the engine, but once the alarm is deactivated, the car refuses to start again.  Turn the ignition and click-click-click.  Nada.  Salesman decides to try jumper cables to another car, under the assumption that the jumper box is out of juice.  Goes to fetch the cables.  Returns.

Click-click-click.  Nada.

Salesman confesses there was the beginnings of a nest of some sort near the battery.  Something might have chewed through a wire... The service department will have to look at it.

And they've all just gone home for the day.

But if I buy today, I can get an amazing deal!  I decline, preferring to buy cars that run.

We head to Dealer #2 - much smaller, but I've checked their inventory and they have the model/trim I'm considering.  We make it there before closing.  We see the car.  A salesman sneaks up on us (in a strangely creepy manner).  I express a desire to test-drive the car.  No problem!  I hand over my license.  The salesman asks for proof of insurance.  "But I don't own a car."  (He does not seem to understand that insurance companies insure CARS, not random carless drivers.  Keeps referring to me as "never having been insured" even after I explain to him that I have had insurance in the past, but I do not currently because I was living in Manhattan where I did not want a car and then have been renting cars as needed and using my credit card insurance for the rentals since leaving the City.)  Alas, he can't let us drive the car without proof of insurance.  He will not even unlock it.

But he wants to talk numbers.  I can get a great deal if I buy today.

I return home carless.  Again.

The Fates are screwing with me.

Dream Big! (But Know That Humanity Is Basically Doomed)

So here's the thing. I just saw TOMORROWLAND (I know, I'm way behind on movies) and it puzzled me.  The message of the film (hammered home with the delicate subtlety of a piano being repeatedly dropped on your head) is that Dreamers are our most precious resources, we must foster them and they can fix any calamity but only if we never ever stop believing in the possibilities of the future.

Yay!  Lovely message, eh?

And it would be, if the basic pretext of the entire film wasn't an assumption that human beings, as a whole, will latch onto any hint of negativity and replicate it diligently until they destroy the world with their persistent Doomsday thinking.

It was strange to me that a film whose entire purpose was to be all "Optimism, rah!" was founded on an assumption so inherently pessimistic.

Also, I gotta say it kind of bugged me that they used dystopian novels like 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 as negative examples--examples of that negative Doomsday thinking--when the entire movie was set up as a dystopian story.  Seriously?

The point of dystopian novels is not to show us that we're doomed!  It's to show that we can break out of that doom if we are only aware of it, that man can rise above, even when we have boxed ourselves into a corner in our quest for perfection/safety/etc.  So why would you use dystopian stories as a symptom of the apocalypse in your heavy-handed Story of Hope?  Especially when your Story of Hope is a dystopian story!  Come on, people.  Think it through!

So while I loved the "Yay, Dreamers!" aspect and several other elements of the story, the basic contradiction of optimism/pessimism confused me like there was no tomorrow.  (See what I did there?)

TANGLING WITH THE TIGER Release Day!!!

Happy TANGLING WITH THE TIGER Release Day!  Today is doubly special because it is also my birthday.  What better present than to have a book I adore launching out into the world today!

I'll be visiting the Samhain Cafe, and chatting about milestones and birthdays (and giving away a book) over at the Ruby blog, but if you just want to check out Grace & Dominec's story, read on!

It might be love. If they don’t kill each other first.

Siberian tiger-shifter Dominec Giroux doesn’t play well with others. Horribly scarred by the Organization scientists who killed his family and tried to turn him into their pet assassin, his sanity has been hanging by a thread ever since his escape.

His one reason for living—revenge. But when he snaps during one of the shifters’ strikes against the Organization and goes on a killing spree, it doesn’t go over so well with his pride mates.

As the only female lieutenant in Lone Pine Pride history, Grace Calaveras has a lot to prove, and a lot on her plate. The last thing she needs to deal with is Dominec’s brand of crazy, but until she can get him under control, she’s his babysitter.

It would take a miracle for these two to find common ground, but when they’re sent on a mission that could impact the future of every shifter in the world, lioness and tiger form an uneasy alliance…and unleash an attraction that could be their salvation. If it doesn’t destroy them both.

Tangling Teaser Tuesday!

Happy #TeaserTuesday! It's only one week until TANGLING WITH THE TIGER is released into the wild! How's about a little peek inside?

Dominec and Grace aren't your typical couple...

**
She wasn’t sure what made her pause with her hand on the latch. A whisper of sound, a trace of a scent, or maybe just that awareness of someone watching her that shivered across her nerve endings.
She turned, hand still on the latch, and looked up. She didn’t see him, but instinct overruled her senses and told her he was there.
“Spying is rude, you perv,” she called—pitching her voice softly so she wouldn’t wake her closest neighbors if they were already sleeping.
Nothing. But the certainty that he was up there didn’t diminish.
“Dominec.” Sharper this time. A smidge louder. “Get your ass down here. I know you’re there.”
The scrape of a claw against shingles. A heavy body shifting above her head.
She was so prepared to see the pale yellow tiger leap to the ground beside her, she stumbled back a step when Dominec dropped to a crouch beside her in human form. His hands were partially shifted to give himself a better grip, but his clothes were damp from the snow, proving he’d been up there in human form for a while.
Dumbass. It would serve him right if he got hypothermia.
The wet cloth clung to the muscles of his shoulders and chest, accentuating the sculpted strength of his human form. His hair was damp as well, the jet-black locks curling more with the moisture, lending him a false air of boyishness. The night shadows did nothing to hide his scars—if anything making them even more ghoulish—but she’d long since stopped being distracted by the marks. Instead she found herself captivated by the heated intensity in his black eyes. Dominec was unsettling on the best of days, but today she found herself unsettled in an entirely different way.
“What are you lurking up there for?” she demanded, her voice sharper than she’d intended, but she didn’t want him to see how he’d rattled her. “Are you stalking me?”
Dominec tipped his head to the side. She wasn’t surprised when he ignored the questions. “Is Kelly your mate?” he asked.
“What? No. Who told you that?” Shit. Was that the rumor going around the pride? Had Kelly started it? Just what she needed. For it to get back to her mother that she and Kelly were official.
Dominec’s expression darkened further. “You’re in love with the Hawk?”
She snorted. “Please.”
“Kye? Xander?”
“No.” What the hell was with men that they all needed you to be mated? Like their puny masculine brains couldn’t comprehend the idea of a woman who might be enough on her own.
“But you have a mate?”
“Not that it’s any of your fucking business either way—”
“Answer the question,” he snapped.
Typically she would tell someone who made that demand where he could shove his question. She had no idea why she answered. “No. I don’t have a mate. Happy?”
“Yes.”
He lunged for her with that insane speed—no one moved like Dominec—too fast for her to get her guard up. His hand closed on the side of her neck, his thumb along her jaw. She threw up a hand in an instinctive palm-heel strike, going for his solar plexus to knock his breath out and send him back a step, but his other hand redirected her strike away from his body, twisting his grip, his fingers locking around her wrist. Her free hand lifted as he leaned in to attack—head butt? Fangs to her throat?—but before she could make contact his lips pressed against hers and—
What the HELL?
He was kissing her.
Shock froze her muscles.
Dominec CrazyAss Giroux was kissing her.
And he was GOOD.

Tiger Pre-Order is LIVE!!!

TANGLING WITH THE TIGER, the next book in the Lone Pine Pride series releases on August 18th (my birthday!) and it's available for pre-order now!  It's Dominec and Grace!  And (shhh! don't tell anyone I said this, but...) I think it might be my personal favorite of the shifter series.  So get ready to curl up with Grace and Dominec... but watch out for the claws!

Warning: This book contains a scarred, brooding tiger with an unconventional approach to romance, a feisty, flirty lioness who doesn’t know how to quit, love triangles, secret missions, and rooftop kisses hot enough to melt the Montana snow.

Some Like It Super

If you haven't already checked out my superhero romance series, now is your chance to get a great deal (and I do love a deal!) on three of the novellas in the series. (If you liked the Karmic Consultants series or you love super hero stories half as much as I do, these novellas are for you.)

The super romances launched (or perhaps I should say "took flight") with Superlovin' (which I can't include for contract reasons) but now you can get Super Bad, Super Hot, and Super Trouble all in one box set!

Three superhero romance novellas in the world of Superlovin' by award-winning paranormal romance author Vivi Andrews...
SUPER BAD – Brainwashed by a super villain, Mirage only wants to get control of her psychic powers and get her sense of self back—but when the only man who can help her is the all-too-appealing hero Captain Justice, does she dare let another man into her head—and her heart—again?

SUPER HOT – Dr. Eric Eisenmann always wanted to be a superhero—until an experiment left him with uncontrollable fire-starting powers triggered by any strong emotion. Now his only hope for getting his new powers under control is Tandy Nightwing—the one non-super member of a hero dynasty and the one woman who fires up his dangerous emotions more than any other.

SUPER TROUBLE – Kim Carruthers has become famous for being the damsel in distress—but when a super villain’s experiment leaves her with telekinetic powers, it’s her turn to kick some villain ass for a change. Unfortunately the one man standing in her way is the super all others fear—Frost Nightwing. Super Enforcer. And the first man she ever loved…

Happy reading!

Unbearable Desire - The Post Release Teaser

If you missed the tweet chat, never fear!  I still have a teaser, just for you.

#TeaserTuesday - Sometimes you've just gotta leap into the jaws of love and damn the consequences...

**
“Nothing has to happen tonight,” he murmured, clearly picking up on her sudden misgivings. “Or ever, if you don’t want it to. Maybe we should just be friends for a while—”
She could see that future. The sensible future. They would go back to their usual awkwardness with one another. Trying to ignore the attraction between them even as they tried to ignore their stupid, complicated past. Until all she could feel when she looked at him was the effort of trying not to feel everything he made her feel.
In some ways it would be so much easier. So much safer.
She didn’t want safe. She didn’t want another decade of pushing down emotions she didn’t want to feel.
She wanted this. She wanted now. She wanted risk and folly. She may not be a fighter, but she was brave. She was strong. And she wasn’t going to make the head choice at the expense of her heart anymore. Even if her heart was wrong and foolish and setting itself up for a vicious break. No. She wasn’t holding back anymore. She wanted to feel, even if it hurt.

Unbearable Desire Release Day!!!

Happy Unbearable Desire Release Day!  The next shifter tale is out in the world!

And not only is it release day, it's also #TeaserTuesday!  So how's about one more peek inside?

Moira and Hugo have a complicated history... but there's no time like the present to work through decade-old emotion...

**

“I’m sorry,” he said. “Sorry that I gave you the wrong impression. Back in Canada.”

Her head snapped up then, brown eyes piercing. “Now? You want to discuss this now?”

He shrugged. “You just seem really irritated with me lately. I thought if we cleared the air—”

“The air is plenty clear. Crystal. Blue skies.” Her gaze landed back on his hand and he half expected the next swipe of antiseptic to be rough, but she was as gentle as ever.

“I’ve always felt bad that you stayed for me and I couldn’t—”

Her head snapped up again, hard enough to give her whiplash. “Excuse me? Stayed for you? Don’t be such an egotistical ass, Hugo. I love this pride. I stayed in spite of you.”

He blinked, taken aback by her vehemence. “I’m still sorry,” he said. “For leading you on before you got here. For giving you a false impression of what we had—”

“Was it false?”

“Ah…” He’d never seen her like this. Her words sharp and aggressive. Moira was gentle and nurturing. She healed people, but now her words were sharp enough to cut.

“Was it really false, Hugo? Was everything that happened in Canada really in my head or did you just get home and chicken out?”

“I don’t know what you—”

“Unrequited love is easy. There are never any flaws in unrequited love. You never have to work through an argument or make a hard call about putting another person above all others when you’re only worshipping from afar.”

“I hardly think—”

She didn’t even let him begin. “This grand passion of yours is childish.” She slapped a bandage over his cut, securing it with surgical tape, deft and gentle even as she railed at him. “Love, real love, isn’t always a fairy tale. It isn’t just adoration. It’s making the choice to put one person above all others—not just believing that they were put on earth for you to worship from afar.”

UNBEARABLE DESIRE - OUT NOW!!!!

Their history? Complicated. Their chemistry? Incendiary.

Lone Pine Pride, Book 4

Ten years ago, Moira shared one hot night with the bear-shifter of her dreams, but when she took him up on his offer to join him at the Lone Pine Pride, reality landed with a thud. She quickly realized that he was only looking for a momentary distraction, not a happily ever after.

She’s been trying to get over him ever since, but no other shifter has measured up to the big bad bear.

When Hugo met Moira in a Yukon bar, he poured out his unrequited love for his alpha’s mate as he pounded down drinks. While Hugo remembers telling Moira he was emotionally unavailable, apparently she only heard his need for sexual healing.

He’s always felt guilty for unintentionally leading her on. But now that the woman he thought he wanted is finally available, he’s beginning to wonder if the one he really needs is the woman with whom he shared one incendiary night—then let slip through his fingers.

Warning: This book contains a stubborn old bear, mixed messages, mixed-up emotions, and lots of mixed drinks. Before reading, remember that the best cure for a hangover is NOT “hair of the bear”.

Around the Blog-o-sphere

Good morning, darlings!  Today I have two (count them TWO!) special blog appearances as I count down the hours until UNBEARABLE DESIRE launches into the world.  Come visit me and you may find yourself taking home a free ebook!

Appearance the First: Beam Me Up Monday with Darynda Jones

Today I'm delighted to be visiting the unspeakably awesome and almost insultingly talented Darynda Jones at her blog.  I'm chatting about my leap-into-it approach to life and love and how it translated into me writing the second-chance-romance novella that became Unbearable Desire.

Check it out. (This one seems to be delayed this morning, but will hopefully be up later!)

Appearance the Second: Fantastic Fables Blog Event at Dark Faerie Tales Blog

I'm also thrilled to be a part of the Fantastic Fables Blog Event!  What would happen if my heroine Moira was dropped into a classic fairy tale?  Would her need to meddle keep those Disney princesses out of trouble?

UNBEARABLE DESIRE is Almost Here!!!!!!!!!

As evidenced by the exclamation points, I might be a touch excited.

It's only a couple days until Unbearable Desire hits ereaders and I have a deluge of information.  Ready?  Set?  Let's do this.

1) Fresh Fiction reviewed UNBEARABLE DESIRE!  Twice!  You can check out their take on LPP#4 here and here.

2) Unbearable Desire is a continuation of the Lone Pine Pride series in bite-sized novella form, but if you are getting amped for the August release of TANGLING WITH THE TIGER (LPP#5 - full meal rather than appetizer sized) and if you are of a Reviewerly Persuasion, you can get it now on NetGalley.

3) I will be appearing on the Interwebz at various locations over the next couple weeks to chat about UD & all things LPP (and maybe give away a few books), so you can look for me at:

Come celebrate with me! And happy reading!

Unbearable Teasers - One Week to Go!

Happy #TeaserTuesday!!! In one week, Hugo and Moira will be out in the world in UNBEARABLE DESIRE (Lone Pine Pride #4), but in the mean time they're getting to know one another...

**

“The first step toward moving on is accepting that something needs to change.”

“Something like that.” Except he wasn’t here to move on. He was here to come to terms with the new emotional landscape, not to attempt to change it. Hugo lifted his glass for another draught of beer.

“You know what the best way to get over someone is? Get under someone new.”

He choked on his beer, spluttering all over the table. “Excuse me?”

She smiled, dimples flashing with deceptive innocence. She looked all soft and sweet and then—had she actually just propositioned him? Right after he’d told he was in love with someone else?

“You’re never going to get over her if you won’t let yourself look at anyone else.”

“I’m never going to get over her.”

“Not with that attitude, you’re not.”

He didn’t want to get over her. Lucienne was the One. If he couldn’t be with her, he was going to be alone. The matter of his heart had been decided long ago. Game over.

But that didn’t mean he had to be celibate. The little she-bear—Moira—sat across from him, her brown eyes twinkling with undisguised invitation—then she smiled and rocked back on the bench. “Never mind. You’re not ready for that yet, that’s fine. We’ll just be friends, and friends don’t let friends drink alone. We’re going to need another glass.” She eyed the nearly drained pitcher at his elbow. “And another pitcher.”

Teaser Tuesday - 2 Weeks and Counting!

It's #TeaserTuesday - and only two short weeks until Unbearable Desire, my new Lone Pine Pride novella releases!  Meet Moira and Hugo.  When an immovable object meets and irresistible force...

**

He sprawled in a wooden booth in the back of the bar, isolated from the locals with a battered duffle occupying the bench opposite him and a partially drained pitcher of beer at his elbow. He didn’t look up from the beer he was contemplating with an impressively dour expression.
Grouchy old bear.

Moira almost smiled. He was massive, bearded and giving off don’t-fuck-with-me vibes that kept the entire population of the bar from coming within five feet of him as effectively as a force field.
Moira marched right through the crowd, looking neither left nor right, shoved his duffle to the side and plopped onto the seat opposite him.

“Hi.”

He lifted his head slowly, as if giving her time to retreat before his gaze made it all the way up to hers. Moira didn’t even flinch. His eyes—a lovely chocolaty brown, she observed—showed no reaction whatsoever to a tiny woman with the scent of a bear shifter dropping into the other seat at his table and saying hello. His barrel-like chest lifted on a prolonged sigh and his gaze skidded away, behind her. “Look…”

“Oh, I know,” she cut him off before he could brush her off. “You’re depressed and tragic and wallowing in self-pity and that sort of thing is really better done in solitude so you’d like me to take myself off to the bar to be hit on by the little men and leave you to your misery.” She smiled brightly. “I’m just not going to do that.”

An Unbearable Teaser

It's T-minus three weeks until UNBEARABLE DESIRE, a novella of the Lone Pine Pride, hits ereaders. So how's about a first little peek inside?  Moira is about to meet the big bad bear...

**
The scent of shifter hit her as soon as she opened the door to the bar. And not just any shifter. Bear.
Moira suppressed a shiver of delight, scanning the rugged and only occasionally unwashed collection of men and women in the bar, trying to trace that scent. It wasn’t one she knew.
She’d been up here by herself. Nothing quite like summer in the northern wilds. For weeks on end the sun would forget to set and days would stretch into one another in an uninterrupted sprawl of light. Moira had tramped through the scrubby trees on four paws, wary of hunters but without the constraints of any sort of regular schedule. It was heaven being unfettered up here after the months apprenticing with the healer of the Black Lake wolf pack.
But even freedom got lonely. She’d been with the pack long enough to get used to the company of other sentient beings. So today Moira had taken her human form, pulled on clothes only slightly musty from being stashed in a cave, and headed down into the one-horse town that passed for civilization out here in the back of beyond.
Who was he?
Where was he?
It was distinctly a he. If she could have done it without being obvious, she would have tipped her face back and inhaled that rich, spicy scent, trailing it through the room until she found its owner.
Then the crowd shifted and she didn’t have to bother with a search.

Hello Again

Howdy, boys and girls!

If you're wondering if I've fallen off the edge of the world, the answer is yes, but not in the way I've sometimes done in the past.  No trips to Cambodia without internet access.  Nope.  This time my distraction is of the domestic variety.  I came down with a mild form of plague and then recently I've taken a temporary day job in order to fill in my financial blanks.  Sadly, chatting here at the blog has fallen by the wayside for a bit, but I'm still writing away.  The Lone Pine Pride lives on!  And the next release is less than a month away!

One Last Hawk Teaser

If you haven't checked out HAWK'S REVENGE yet, what are you waiting for? Perhaps another ‪#‎TeaserTuesday‬?  When last we saw Adrian and Rachel they were trying to work through their complicated history...

**
It had been a risk, being with him, but desire had made her reckless, the danger adding a delicious tension…or maybe that was just him. The world was always sharper and brighter in his arms.
“I can’t make you out, Dr. Russell,” he said finally, folding his arms.
“Ask me anything. I won’t lie.”
And for the first time in what felt like a lifetime, the words were wholly true.
She didn’t have to lie. She didn’t have to smile for her bosses while her stomach churned at what they were doing. She didn’t have to feel her heart beating out of her chest as she smuggled out a shifter, praying desperately that all the pieces were in place and all the codes she’d been given were still active.
No one was going to catch her now. Noah—Adrian—wouldn’t kill her if she failed to cooperate. The shifters had an honor the Organization had never possessed. It was why they were at such a disadvantage in the silent war.
For the first time in an age—hell, maybe ever—Rachel was free to tell the truth. To be herself. It had been so long, she wasn’t entirely sure she remembered who that was anymore, but she was finally free to find out.
Free.

When It's Like Pulling Teeth...

Sometimes the books flow off your fingertips like a gift from the gods.

And then there are the other times.

Today I'm over at the Ruby blog... talking about those other times.  And a recent release that may or may not fall into that category.  (cough, cough)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Courtesy of Fantasy & Sci-Fi Rock My World, we have the hardest choice ever.  I've narrowed it down to Mal & the Doctor, but how do I choose between my Captain and Hello, Sweetie?  Impossible!  Who would you choose?

"There is never a dull moment... the reader can't put the story down."

HAWK'S REVENGE RELEASE DAY!!!!

Happy HAWK'S REVENGE Release Day!!! It's finally here! And do I have an excerpt for you? Of course I do! It's ‪#‎TeaserTuesday‬, after all.

Today, for our Release Day Tease, Adrian and Rachel have some issues to work out...

“I would never have betrayed you if there was any other choice that would have saved your life.”
His eyes went distant. Yellow always seemed such a bright warm color; she’d never known it could be so icy cold. “Is that so? And the way you were with me, they made you do that?”
“No. Adrian. Everything between us was real. They came to me, when we’d been seeing one another for a few weeks, called me before the Board of Directors.” She remembered the terror of that meeting. The way her heart had beat so fast and hard she’d been grateful there were no shifters in the room to hear the blatant tell. Mr. Washington, the Chairman of the Board, had watched her with his eerily pale gray eyes, unblinking as he slid photos across the table. Photos of her with Noah. “They’d been following us. They knew who you were, but they didn’t know what we were doing. The shifters we’d helped escaped were still safe from Organization hunters. They didn’t suspect me yet. They said if I helped them acquire you, it would prove my loyalty.”
“So you proved it.”
“What else was I supposed to do?”

HAWK'S REVENGE IS OUT TODAY!!!  Welcome back to the pride, boys and girls!

Sexy and Fresh: Meet THE QUEEN

Hawk's Revenge comes out on Tuesday (woohoo!) and I'll be gushing about my new contemporary romance persona's debut release tomorrow, but TODAY, ooooh, I'm excited about today.

I got a sneak peek at a steamy erotic story, with lush, vivid writing and a compelling (sexy!) world.  This one is as unique as it is steam-your-glasses sexy, so if you like it hot, check out THE QUEEN by the lovely Megan Reel.

Six lovers. Six ways to seduction. Which one will she choose?

Queen Alendra has been groomed to be the perfect ruler of men. Held aloft on a golden throne, she keeps herself composed and untouched; a deity in human form. But now she must bear an heir, and the tradition in her realm calls for a ceremony that is as sensual as it is shocking.

Alendra has never been touched by anyone other than her maids. The only man she has any connection to at all, is the one she can never have. Yet he is the one to lead her on a sensual journey toward becoming the woman he knows she is inside.

Now six champions have been chosen, each a master of an art of war. No one must know their real identities. Instead they are known by the mask they wear, Stag, Bull, Hawk, Serpent, Leopard, and Fox. They have been selected for one purpose, to give the queen an heir. At the end of the feast of Rahnis, all six will claim her bed.

The feast is about to begin…
