Get Your Shifter On!
I'm still in Asia (hello from Bangkok!), but this was so exciting I had to find some internet and share!
Good news, shifter lovers! The contracts are signed and countersigned, i's dotted and t's crossed. It's official! The first book in a new series set in the world of the Serengeti Shifters will release in June of 2014!
Meet the new lion pride - complete with a scattering of tigers, bears, and even a jaguar or two. Look for the first release of the Lone Pine Pride, Jaguar's Kiss, to hit the shelves next summer! Can I get a woohoo?

Holiday in Hell!
I'm a little superstitious and a lot neurotic, so I tend to be freakishly closed-lipped about new books until I am certain, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they are going to actually be released. I still don't have what I would call an overwhelming level of critical certainty, but since I did sign and mail the contract a few days ago, I should probably fess up to a little project I've had in the works for a while now.
Drumroll, please...
This December, Carina Press and I invite you to take a break from the burdens of shopping, caroling, and spreading good cheer to read my little spin on the Christmas season, angels & demons style. One badass chicky on an angelic quest, one studly demon chained in Hell needing rescue by dawn on the 25th, and all the fire and brimstone you can handle. It's Christmas just like you always dreamed it could be - with fireballs and semi-automatic weapons!
Look for No Angel (though the title doesn't actually have final approval yet so, um, look for some book by me) coming December 6th from Carina Press!

Shifter News & Reverse Stalkerism
Guess what? It's official! Serengeti Lightning, #3 in the Serengeti Shifters series will be coming out with Samhain Publishing later this year. The dotted lines have all been signed. Woohoooooo! This one is about Ava & Caleb's youngest brother Michael & naughty schoolteacher Mara. More details to come...
Where will those details be? Why on the Death-By-Purple Website, of course! I'm actually thinking it's time to give the Death-by-Purple Website a facelift. When I first launched that puppy (low, these many moons ago) I didn't have much in the way of content. Now I feel like I have a surfeit (yeah, you heard it, I said surfeit) of content, but am lacking on the organization and user-friendliness.
I think I'm going to keep the overall (freakishly-purple) look. Partly because purple is my school color (Go Cats!) and partly because I tend to freak out when websites I frequent drastically change their look. Lately Dear Author has been messing with my mind by changing their theme on an almost daily basis as they try to find one that is wonderful and pretty without crashing their servers. My changes will be mostly having to do with navigability and fonts. Because I am currently infatuated with a new font. (Puppy-love at the moment, but who knows where this character devotion will lead?)
And in unrelated news, Hello, you! Yes, you! I know you're there. I can seeeeee you. (Creeped out, yet?)
So, the other day I got to feeling like I was talking into a void. I started to wonder if my blog is essentially me talking to myself, so I opened up my website-stats-tracking-program-thingy and There You Were! There are actually quite a few of you, my silent lurker visitors. Now, I'm not going to try to get you to break your vows of silence. I just wanted to make sure you were acknowledged and welcomed. So hello and welcome!
Fair warning: Next week there will be a couple contests and if you wanna win stuff, you're gonna have to comment. But if you don't wanna win stuff, I hope you still come by and silently loom, because I love having you here. Even if the only people who know you're here are you, my stats-tracker, and (when I bother to check my stats-tracker) me. Happy lurking, darlings!

Officially a Twit
I joined Twitter.
I know, I know, I've been resisting its Twitterific allure for a while now, but yesterday, in a fit of procrastination, I decided I wanted to follow people, dammit. So that's what I'm doing. Giving in to my stalker-ish tendencies. This seems a much healthier outlet for my author-groupie impulses than, say, lurking outside their houses. Gena Showalter will tell me when she has new books coming out! Because she wants me to know. Cuz I'm special like that. Me and all two thousand of the rest of her followers.
I don't know if I will tweet much, as I am a long-winded type person and doubt I will ever have anything worthwhile to say that can be said in 140 characters or less. But I might occasionally tweet some less-than-worthwhile things... so if you wanna follow me here's the link: http://twitter.com/ViviAndrews
What do you think of the various and sundry social media? I have a feeling, now that I've signed up for Twitter, that everyone will suddenly shift over to some other new site. I will still blog (because my Narcissism is hungry and must be fed!) but it's possible facebook will suffer from even worse neglect if I really get into the TweetVerse.
I heard about this study (and now I wish I remembered where I read about it, cuz it would be awesome to cite it here, wouldn't it?) talking about teens and social media. How parents were all worried that their kids weren't socializing "normally" since they were always hooked into their iPhones and whatnot. So, apparently, this study found that kids who were linked up to various sites actually had more developed social skills than those who weren't. I found it really interesting, because you always hear about technology distancing people, rather than bringing them together in meaningful human ways.
Like anything, you get out of it what you put in, and adults may have a very different experience than kids who are raised with that as the norm. I don't know. I think, when it comes to social media, as with most things, the important thing is to not demonize them or blame the technology. It's neutral. Inanimate. It isn't out to destroy our lives, but it will only enrich your life if you use it that way. It's all in what you bring to the table.
And I've devolved into preachy pablum. Ugh.
Moral of the story: I've joined Twitter. Consider this a fact-finding mission. I will report back in a couple months with details as to my success or lack thereof in my quest for domination of the TweetVerse. Rah.

A Handful of Books
Five! Five is a beautiful number. Hold up all your fingers. Isn't that fun? I've been doing that all week, and now that the ink is dry, I can tell you why (and it ain't cuz I want to be in a Subway commercial).
I sold my fifth book to Samhain!
The third Karmic Consultants story will release as an ebook this spring. It's gonna be a busy year. The Ghost Exterminator this month. The Tickle My Fantasy print anthology in December. Serengeti Storm in January. And now, both the Shifting Dreams print anthology and a new Karmic Consultants ebook in April.
I've certainly got plenty to be thankful for, so a big ole HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all you Canadians out there. Enjoy your holiday!

More Good News!
It's official! Tripping on the heels of my Golden Heart final... I sold another novella! I am not a One Book Wonder! My new novella, Serengeti Heat, a steamy lion-shifter romance, will be part of the July sexy shape-shifter anthology from Samhain. Woohoo!
Also appearing in the anthology will be The Man of Her Dreams by Robie Madison & Kiss and Kin by debut author Kinsey W. Holley!
Serengeti Heat is a departure from The Ghost Shrink (et al). Less har-de-har-har and more bow-chicka-bow-wow. And I must say, it was fun testing my boundaries on the sexy side of the scale. Fear not, faithful reader, I am not abandoning the laugh track for good, but I might have to visit the lion pride again in the future.
Le question du jour: Is laughter really the best aphrodisiac or do you think there is a natural seriousness to the sensuous?
And one more time: WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!
