Naughty Karma - Now In 3D!!!

Do you like your books of the touchable variety? So you can pet them and hold them and whisper words of affection into their pages? Do you love the Karmic Consultants? Then today is your day, darlings!  NAUGHTY KARMA is now available IN PRINT!

Double crossing the devil is a dangerous business.

Nearly two decades ago, Prometheus sold his beating heart to a devil in exchange for epic power. That contract is about to expire—and so is he. There’s only one woman with the power to help him see his next birthday. And he’s willing to use every manipulation in his arsenal to pry that power from the ice queen’s grip.
Karma, who values order above all else, has had enough of the unscrupulous warlock’s pranks endangering her people. But when she confronts the wily trickster to demand a cease-fire, his terms throw her for a loop. The bastard wants her to save his life—and he wants her in his bed.
Clinging to her hard-won control is the only way Karma knows to keep her abilities from overwhelming her. If anyone can tempt her to embrace the chaos of her magic, it’s Prometheus.
One kiss brings her defenses crashing down. But can she trust Prometheus…or has she lost her own heart to a warlock with a hidden agenda?
Warning: This book contains scheming, manipulation, bargains-with-the-devil, and meddling consultants. All’s fair in love and magic.

Three Things

ONE - Newsletter winners have been randomly selected (this segment sponsored by Random.org) and the emails on winging though cyberspace to award PRIZES, so check you inboxes, darlings! (A couple of you will have a surprise!)

TWO - National Novel Writing Month (or NaNo) has officially commenced!  I've never participated, but it's always fun to see the frenzy of creative energy that happens during the festival.  So go forth and write like the wind, NaNo-ers!  And if you're looking for inspirational writing quotes, Buzzfeed has some for you here.

And THREE - We have yet another Karma review!  This one is from Night Owl Reviews and assigned Karma 4 Stars!  "I wasn’t sure how these two would come together or what the deal was with Prometheus because he did seem to be a very bad man, and much like he was Karma’s enemy if anything. Having just finished Naughty Karma I have to admit the twist was brilliant."  (Awwwww, look at me, I'm all blushy...)   "It's well told, inventive, and fun to read."  (I think "fun" is probably my favorite comment on the books.  It gives me warm fuzzies every time I hear it.)

And that's all I've got today.  Happy Friday!

Reviews, Reviews, Everywhere!

Naughty Karma has been on ereaders for a couple weeks now and more reviews are trickling in.  I confess I have been a bit more obsessive eager to hear what folks have to say about this one, reaching a new level of giddy whenever folks send me links via email and twitter.  And now I pass those links on to you!  So if you enjoy reading reviews, here's a feast for you.

(*Vivi takes a moment to wave to her grandma who reads all her reviews. Hi, Gran!*)

Today we have a short review with excerpt from A Romance Reader - "Loved it!" (Woot!)

And Long and Short Reviews awarded Naughty Karma 4.5 Stars!  "I recommend this for everyone who needs some powerful magic in their lives and their romances."  (Awwwww.)

And it isn't just Naughty Karma getting in on the review love this week.  Spinning Gold, my fairy tale romance retelling Rumpelstiltskin in a whole new light, was reviewed by "The Eater of Books" (love that handle) and awarded 4 Stars!  "I absolutely adored this book!"  (Squeee!!!)

So there you have it.  A bevy of reviews that were sent to me in the last little bit.  All in one yummy package.  Mmm, reviews.

Happy Naughty Karma Release Day, everyone!!! I'm so excited that this book is finally in readers' hands.  I hope you love it even half as much as I loved writing this series!

Today, I'm celebrating the release with the fabulous Mary Hughes over at her blog.  I'm talking about my favorite Mary Shelley quote, the nature of evil, and redeeming a villain for a hero role.  One lucky commenter will win a copy of Naughty Karma, so come on by!

I'll also be visiting the Samhain Cafe this afternoon, to share some delicious snippets of the book.

Happy Karma Day!!!

Teaser Tuesday: Naughty Karma Countdown

I've been doing Teaser Tuesdays on my Facebook page for Naughty Karma and I thought the non-FB types might want to take a peek too, so today we have a sneak peek inside this upcoming Karmic release.  Prometheus and Karma... well, they have a somewhat confrontational start...
“You wanted war? Well, you’d better brace your ass because war is exactly what you’re going to get.”
Bring it on. Prometheus barely stopped himself from issuing the challenge. It was hard to remember when looking into her fiery brown eyes that going toe-to-toe with Karma wasn’t his end game. Step One had been to make it so the ice queen couldn’t ignore him—mission accomplished there.
Step Two might be trickier. Cooperation had never been his strong suit, but he needed hers. “As it happens, I don’t want war. I want your help.”
“You’ve done an excellent job of making sure I couldn’t care less what you want.”
“Not even if it comes with a truce? No more pranks, no more curses. I’ll be on my best behavior.” For all that’s worth. “Helping me is a small price to pay for peace of mind.”
“No.” She pivoted toward the open door, revealing the plunge of the backless dress. He lost his smile. She was bare to the small of her back, the soft curve of her spine vulnerable, exposed, lickable, but Prometheus had more pressing concerns than the itch to tease every inch of her silky skin.
He reached out a mental hand and slammed the door shut. “We aren’t done here.” Power thrummed in his voice. Life or death had always sounded foolishly dramatic, but when it was his death, that changed things substantially. He didn’t bother playing nice—not that he ever did.
Karma spun back to him, eyes widening as the lights in the shop flickered in reaction to the energy surge coming off his body. “Excuse me?”
“I was willing to play by your rules, do things your way, but you turned me down. Now you’re on my turf and you will hear me out.”
“Do you really think threatening me will help your case?”
“This isn’t threatening. When I’m threatening you, you’ll know.” Though she had a point. He took a slow breath, trying to dial down the current of power coursing through him. It was always easier to let it out than it was to get it back in the box.
Her mouth fell open. “When? When you’re threatening me? My God, Prometheus. Is that supposed to make me want to help you?”
“You don’t need to call me a god. That’s a different Prometheus.”
“You really don’t get it, do you? You can’t bully me into helping you. Especially not after you’ve spent the last year doing everything you can to piss me off.”
“It wasn’t the last year. I’ve really only been focused on aggravating you for the last six months. Everything before that was just a coincidence.”
What do you think, darlings?  You like?  Want more?

Literary Nymphs Review for Karma!

Good news, boys and girls!  We have the early word on Naughty Karma (Coming Oct 8th to an ereader near you!) and it's glowing!  Literary Nymph Reviews gave Karma's caper 4.5 Nymphs!

"In addition to two unique primary characters, there’s vivid imagery, and a fast but smooth pace. I love the bantering dialogue between them and its great fun to watch their one-upmanship. I’ve been waiting for a book featuring Karma since the series started and I wasn’t disappointed. This entertaining book is a definite keeper."

A keeper!!!! Excuse me as I squee and dance around the living room.

Who's excited to see Karma finally get her guy?  I can't wait for you guys to read this one!

Teaser Tuesday

If you're over on Facebook, you may have already noticed that a bunch of authors are tossing around teasers today for upcoming books and works in progress.  Since I'm working on Karma's edits at the moment, it seemed topical to share a little Naughty Karma snippet.  Here's a sneak peek!

Tempest in a Tea-Length Dress

The shop door crashed open and slammed against the far wall, shuddering on its hinges. Prometheus caught it with a mental hand when it would have ricocheted off the wall to retaliate against the woman who’d struck it. He froze the door in place before it could wreak vengeance on that pretty—livid—face. Cracks probably spidered through the frosted glass from the force of her entry, but he didn’t bother to take his eyes off the woman on his threshold long enough to check.
Karma Cox. Owner and benevolent dictator of Karmic Consultants, paranormal problem solvers. A magical Mussolini in heels.
She was here.
“You bastard.”
And she was pissed.

Nouveau Punctuation

My editor and I discussed it and we've decided that in my fall release, Naughty Karma, all of Prometheus's dialogue should be read in the voice of Morgan Freeman. (Cuz OMIGOD can you just imagine Morgan Freeman talking dirty to you?  Yes, please.)  In order to remind readers to do this in their heads, College Humor has provided us with a handy-dandy set of new punctuation marks for just this sort of thing.  Voila.

Karma Day!

I mentioned this in my interview on Friday, but because I'm all gushy excited I want to share it again here.  It's official, boys and girls, the seventh and final installment of the Karmic Consultants series, featuring the puppeteer proprietress herself is going to be released in the Fall of 2013!  Naughty Karma, a paranormal novel full of the usual Karmic hijinx, is on its way!  You can expect romance, a battle of wills, cameos from your favorite consultants, and maybe a few surprises...

More to come as soon as I have more details to share!

The Inside Scoop

Today I'm being interviewed over at the Ruby blog about all things Finder's Keeper.  Swing on by and say hello!  You may especially want to drop by and check it out if you're wondering when Karma will get her day as the heroine of her very own Karmic Consultants book. (Hint hint...)

Happy Friday, boys and girls!

Delinquent Blogger

I've been a very bad blogger lately, haven't I?  I'd like to tell you it'll be getting better (and maybe it will, who knows?) but it seems unlikely since I am currently headed up into the mountains of New Hampshire where I will have limited internet for the next month.  What I will have, whilst I am all de-internetted, is a stretch of lovely, uninterrupted time to FINISH (yes, I said it, finish) Karma's book, which I have been slowly, slowly, slowly toiling over for what feels like eleven million years.  Now, I don't like to talk about the books while I'm still wrestling the wily little bastards into submission, so I won't say much, except 1) it is hella fun seeing all my favorite characters come back to say howdy and 2) this is a battle royale between Order and Chaos and I love it when love is good and chaotic.  Or evil and chaotic.  As the case may be.

Now wish me luck and fiendish productivity, boys and girls.  I'm off to my writing cave.
